Murang’a County Governor Irungu Kang’ata has outlined an ambitious plan to build an industrial city covering about 1,400 acres, roughly four times the 350 acres he says make up Nairobi’s Central Business District. The idea is simple: attract manufacturers, give them long-term land leases, build supporting infrastructure and turn the area near Del Monte into a major industrial and commercial centre. #Muranga

Trevor, son of MUWASCO managing director Eng. Daniel Ng’ang’a, shared a desperate video plea for help with his mounting medical bills after multiple surgeries. His mother, Mary Wairimu, said she had exhausted her resources, and the father had blocked contact.

Kenyans rallied fast—a TikTok fundraiser by Chris Kirubi raised KSh 1.187 million in 90 minutes—securing Trevor's spot in ICU at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital in Nairobi. While many called out parental neglect, others urged caution, noting unknown family details and warning against using children in disputes. #Muranga

Former Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria has been remanded at the Industrial Area Prison after failing to instantly raise a Ksh10 million cash bail. He pleaded not guilty at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court over an amended Ksh351 million graft and money laundering case.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) amended the charge sheet to accuse Wa Iria, his wife, and five others of irregularly awarding media-buying tenders worth Ksh351 million to Top Image Media Consultants Limited during his tenure.

The fresh charges allege that millions of shillings from the county were channeled into personal properties, including land purchases in Umoja, Nairobi. #Muranga

Gachagua Sets August 24 Deadline to End Wamunyoro Consultations, Plans US Trip

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that he will conclude his political consultations at his Wamunyoro home on Monday, August 24, before travelling to the United States.

Gachagua has spent recent weeks holding consultations with political leaders, community representatives and grassroots delegations as he shapes his political strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election. Wamunyoro has increasingly emerged as a key meeting point for his political engagements.

The DCP leader is expected to have a busy schedule in the coming days before departing for the US. He has said the American trip will form part of his broader political engagements, including reaching out to Kenyans in the diaspora.

His planned travel comes as the former Deputy President continues efforts to expand the Democracy for Citizens Party's grassroots network and build alliances ahead of 2027.

Gachagua's consultations at Wamunyoro have attracted leaders and delegations from different parts of the country, reinforcing the home's emerging role in his political mobilisation strategy.

The next phase of his political programme will be closely watched as parties and political formations continue realigning ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

It was on March 31, 2025, that Jane Kagiri first said Laikipia ISN'T Mt Kenya but Rift Valley.
On August 16, 2025, Susan Kihika said Nakuru is Rift Valley, not Central Kenya.
On August 27, 2025, Kimani Ichung’wah said Kiambu is not part of the Mt Kenya region.
On June 14, 2026, Geoffrey Ruku openly pushed the Mt Kenya East–West divide.
Then, on August 11, 2026, Gachoki said Kirinyaga sits between East and West and should chart its own path.
Look at those dates. These things SUDDENLY became important after the political marriage between Ruto and H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH ENDED.
These are things we never used to fight over like this. We always spoke as one.
There’s a man who calls himself patriotic, seated somewhere, who is systematically dismantling the political foundation of our people. He is hell-bent on making sure Murima never remain ONE again.
Now leaders from Nakuru, Embu, Kiambu and Laikipia are busy arguing over which murima people belong where instead of asking the BIGGEST QUESTIONS. They come with flowery and clever language to explain these new divisions.
If we aren't careful, by the time this is over and the man they are hunting votes for is long gone, we may look back and ask ourselves: What did we allow them to do to us?
We will have divided our own people into smaller and smaller pieces. We will have lost the sense that we belong together. We will have lost parts of our culture, our shared history and the political strength that came from standing together.
And the people who caused all this division will have moved on. #Elections2027 #Muranga #Kiambu #Nakuru #kirinyaga

Gachagua Seeks Security Assurance Ahead of Emurua Dikirr Visit

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to guarantee his security ahead of his planned visit to Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County on Friday, August 21.

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader said the visit, planned at the invitation of DCP candidate Vincent Rotich, has been overshadowed by alleged threats against him and his supporters.

Gachagua claims that videos circulating online contain warnings against his planned entry into the constituency. He has called on the National Police Service to ensure the safety of his entourage, supporters and local residents during the political gathering.

The former Deputy President maintained that he has a constitutional right to travel and participate in political activities anywhere in the country. He urged the police to protect that right and prevent any attempts to disrupt the planned visit.

Gachagua also accused the police of failing to adequately respond to previous complaints concerning alleged attacks against him and his supporters. He said he had previously submitted evidence relating to 24 alleged incidents but claimed that no meaningful follow-up had been undertaken.

The DCP leader further warned that any failure by the police to provide adequate security could have serious consequences, while challenging IG Kanja to take responsibility for maintaining peace and protecting political freedoms.

The allegations come amid heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Gachagua expanding DCP activities across different parts of the country.

NCIC Summons Gachagua Over Alleged Inciting Remarks

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has summoned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to respond to remarks he allegedly made during several public engagements.

The commission is examining comments reportedly made in Luanda, Vihiga County, on June 12, in Kisii County on February 23, and at another public gathering in late July. NCIC is investigating whether the statements could constitute ethnic incitement, hate speech, or actions likely to undermine national cohesion.

The summons, issued under the National Cohesion and Integration Act, requires Gachagua to appear at the commission's offices at Britam Towers in Nairobi at 2:00 p.m. Failure to comply could result in an arrest warrant.

The move comes amid similar investigations involving other political leaders, including Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma, as NCIC continues its efforts to address remarks that could threaten peaceful coexistence and national unity. #Gachagua #Vihiga #Kisii #muranga

Kenya Warned of Severe Flooding Risk During October–December Rains

Kenya is facing a heightened risk of severe flooding during the October–December 2026 rainfall season, with experts warning of possible landslides, disease outbreaks, damage to farms and destruction of critical infrastructure.

An estimated 1.5 million Kenyans could be affected by flooding, with Tana River, Garissa, Kilifi, Mandera, Marsabit, Wajir, Nairobi, Busia, Kisumu, Narok, Mombasa and Baringo among the counties identified as potentially vulnerable.

Landslides are also a major concern. Experts estimate that approximately 45 percent of households in landslide-prone counties could face exposure, particularly in Murang’a, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Kiambu, Baringo, Makueni and Tharaka Nithi.

Some parts of the country could experience several consecutive days of rainfall, with daily totals ranging between 20mm and 50mm, increasing the likelihood of flooding and related disruptions.

The health sector could also come under pressure, with another 1.5 million households potentially exposed to water-borne and vector-borne diseases, especially across the North Eastern, coastal and Lake Basin regions.

The Climate Prediction and Applications Centre has reportedly identified indicators of a very strong El Niño occurring alongside a strong positive Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD)—weather patterns that could significantly influence rainfall across East Africa.

Authorities and residents in vulnerable areas are therefore being urged to strengthen preparedness measures ahead of the October–December rains. #Muranga #Nairobi #Embu

Ndindi Nyoro Set to Begin People's Tour in Murang'a After Political Realignment

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro is set to begin a People's Tour in Mukuyu, Murang'a, following his recent political move away from President William Ruto's UDA.

The tour is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. tomorrow, with Nyoro and his team seeking to engage residents on issues affecting the region and outline their political agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The political shift has generated mixed reactions across Mt Kenya. Supporters have welcomed the move, with some describing it as the start of a political "tsunami" in the region. Hundreds of residents have recently attended Nyoro's public engagements, where discussions have included education, infrastructure and economic development.

However, critics have questioned the timing and impact of the move, accusing Nyoro of creating political uncertainty and deepening divisions within the region.

At 40, the economist and Kiharu legislator has built a significant political profile, including through initiatives focused on education and student support.

The People's Tour is expected to provide Nyoro with an opportunity to strengthen his grassroots network, communicate his political priorities and gauge public sentiment as Kenya's political parties and leaders position themselves ahead of 2027.

SHOCK as Murang’a man kills his wife and takes his own life, barely 3 hours after moving in together- He went berserk after she sent him a photo with another man

According to preliminary police findings, a couple in Nyerere Village, Murang’a County, died on August 9, 2026, only a few hours after beginning their “come-we-stay” marriage.

The victims were identified as Patrick Mwangi, 28, and Jackline Wambui, 25. Wambui reportedly arrived at Mwangi’s home at around 4:00 PM, after which the couple went out on a motorcycle to celebrate their union before returning home at about 7:00 PM.

Mwangi’s mother, Wangare, reportedly noticed that Wambui appeared tired and drowsy after they returned. Shortly afterwards, Mwangi visited his parents’ nearby home and reportedly complained about a photo Wambui had posted on social media involving another man. He also allegedly said she had threatened to leave if he did not treat her well.

About 15 minutes later, Wangare reportedly went to check on the couple after becoming concerned. She discovered Mwangi had died outside the house, while neighbours who entered the home found Wambui unresponsive.

Murang’a County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said preliminary investigations indicate that Mwangi killed Wambui before taking his own life. The bodies were taken to the Maragua Level Four Hospital mortuary, with postmortem examinations expected to establish the official causes of death.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing. #Muranga

🚨 GOVERNOR KANG'ATA VISITS DRIVER RECOVERING AFTER RALLY SHOOTING

Murang'a Governor Irungu Kang'ata has visited his driver, Gitari, who is recovering after being shot during unrest ahead of a political rally in Nyahururu last month.

Photos from the visit, showing Gitari at his modest rural home, quickly circulated online and sparked widespread debate. While many praised the governor for checking on his injured employee, others questioned the living conditions of political staff and whether drivers and support personnel are fairly compensated.

The shooting itself remains a subject of controversy, with Governor Kang'ata previously blaming the police for the incident, while police denied involvement and said the driver was treated and discharged.

The visit has reignited conversations about employee welfare, income inequality, and the responsibilities of public leaders toward their staff.

What do you think? Should public officials do more to improve the welfare of their employees, or is an employee's housing and lifestyle a personal responsibility?
