Murang’a County Governor Irungu Kang’ata has outlined an ambitious plan to build an industrial city covering about 1,400 acres, roughly four times the 350 acres he says make up Nairobi’s Central Business District. The idea is simple: attract manufacturers, give them long-term land leases, build supporting infrastructure and turn the area near Del Monte into a major industrial and commercial centre.
