Uhuru Steps Down as Azimio Council Chair, Gachagua and Orengo Mentioned as Successors

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has relinquished his position as chairperson of the Azimio la Umoja coalition’s Council, following the coalition’s reorganisation and rebranding as the Ukombozi Alliance.

Reports initially indicated that Rigathi Gachagua had been proposed to succeed Uhuru, with Siaya Governor James Orengo expected to serve as co-chair. However, subsequent reports said Orengo took over as Council chairman after the coalition’s September 21 reorganisation.

The leadership changes come as opposition parties restructure their alliance ahead of the 2027 General Election. #Uhuru #Elections2027 #Gachagua

IEBC Denies Claims of Awarding KSh6.5 Billion 2027 Election Technology Tender

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has denied claims that it has already awarded the KSh6.5 billion Integrated Elections Management System (IEMS) tender for the 2027 General Election.

IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon said the procurement process remains at an early stage, with tender documents having been published on the commission's website and the Public Procurement Information Portal on August 11, 2026. He said no supplier has been selected.

Ethekon said the technical specifications are generic and performance-based, allowing qualified suppliers to compete. He added that the requirements were developed with consideration of Supreme Court directives, lessons from previous elections and feedback from IEBC field officers.

The response followed allegations by Democracy for Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua, who questioned whether the procurement process had been predetermined in favour of a foreign supplier. Gachagua also called for the release of documents relating to the preparation and approval of the tender specifications.

IEBC said the technology tender and a separate tender for ballot papers and other election materials have temporarily been halted following requests for review before the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board.

The commission has maintained that the procurement is being conducted under the Constitution and the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, and urged potential bidders to use the established legal channels if they have concerns.

The dispute comes as Kenya intensifies preparations for the 2027 General Election, with the procurement of election technology expected to remain a closely watched issue. #Elections2027 #Gachagua

🇰🇪 GACHAGUA RAISES QUESTIONS OVER THE 2027 ELECTION TENDER

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused the Ruto administration and the IEBC of allegedly steering the 2027 election technology tender toward South Korean firm Miru Systems.

Gachagua claims the company has faced controversy over election technology in countries including Argentina, the Philippines and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He further alleges that a new voters' register could be used to suppress opposition voices and that the company has already been granted access to electoral data.

He has called on IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon to ensure the tender process is transparent and has urged the commission to retain the existing Smartmatic system.

These are allegations made by Gachagua and should not be treated as established facts unless independently verified.

With the tender deadline reportedly set for September 1, the big question is:

👉 Will the IEBC convince Kenyans that the 2027 election technology procurement is transparent, independent and beyond political interference?

🇰🇪 **Kenya cannot afford another election crisis. Transparency must come first.

Police to Flag Politicians Linked to Violence Ahead of 2027 Elections

The National Police Service will recommend that individuals with a record of promoting or perpetrating political violence be barred from contesting in the 2027 General Election, Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has said.

Speaking on Tuesday during the launch of the Roadmap to a Peaceful General Election 2027, Masengeli said police would submit the names of candidates deemed unfit to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for consideration.

“We will recommend to the IEBC those individuals who are not fit to run for office based on their track record of promoting or perpetrating violence in Kenya,” Masengeli said.

Masengeli also warned politicians who recruit, finance or mobilise criminal groups to cause violence that they would face action, urging political actors to exercise their rights within the limits of national security and public safety.

The announcement comes amid growing concerns over political violence as Kenya heads toward the 2027 General Election, with recent incidents at political rallies renewing calls for stronger measures to prevent violence and hold perpetrators and their sponsors accountable. #Elections2027

Gachagua Welcomes Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan to DCP

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has welcomed Kamukunji Member of Parliament Yusuf Hassan Abdi to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), in another significant political realignment ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Yusuf Hassan, who has represented Kamukunji in Parliament since 2011, formally joined the DCP on Tuesday, August 25, after leaving the Jubilee Party. He becomes one of the latest sitting Nairobi MPs to align themselves with Gachagua's political movement.

Gachagua described Hassan's arrival as an important addition to the party as it seeks to expand its support base in Nairobi and across the country ahead of the 2027 polls.

Hassan, a veteran politician and four-term Kamukunji MP, has also expressed support for Gachagua's 2027 presidential ambitions, saying he had joined DCP because he believes the party represents a desire for change among Kenyans.

The move gives Gachagua's DCP a stronger foothold in Nairobi's politically strategic Kamukunji constituency, while further highlighting the continuing realignment of political parties ahead of the 2027 elections. #Gachagua #Elections2027

Gachagua Says He Is Opposition’s Best Bet to Defeat Ruto in First Round

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has declared himself the strongest opposition candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 presidential election.

Gachagua said his leadership experience, political credentials and support among voters give him the best chance of securing a first-round victory against Ruto.

“I am the best shot of guaranteeing a first-round win against William Ruto. I have the best leadership quality, experience, and the majority of voters are behind me,” Gachagua said.

His remarks come as opposition leaders continue consultations and efforts to build a united front ahead of the 2027 General Election. Gachagua Says He Will Back Opposition Candidate Even If He Is Not Picked

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has said he is willing to support another opposition candidate in the 2027 presidential election if his political allies decide to settle on someone else to challenge President William Ruto.

Gachagua made the remarks on Monday, August 24, during the conclusion of his 55-day Wamunyoro consultations in Nyeri County, where he presented the findings of discussions on Kenya's political future.

The former Deputy President said the consultations had generated strong support for his own presidential ambitions and maintained that he was well positioned to challenge Ruto in the 2027 election.

However, Gachagua also signalled a willingness to put broader opposition interests ahead of his personal ambitions. He said participants in the consultations had cautioned against allowing individual political interests to undermine efforts to unite behind a candidate capable of defeating the incumbent.

His remarks could ease concerns over possible divisions within the opposition as parties and political leaders continue negotiations ahead of the 2027 polls. #Gachagua #Elections2027

Musalia Mudavadi Signals 2032 Presidential Ambitions

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has announced plans to seek the Kenyan presidency in 2032, while pledging to support President William Ruto’s bid for re-election in the 2027 General Election.

Mudavadi said his immediate political priority is to back Ruto’s 2027 campaign before turning his attention to his own presidential ambitions in 2032.

It was on March 31, 2025, that Jane Kagiri first said Laikipia ISN'T Mt Kenya but Rift Valley.
On August 16, 2025, Susan Kihika said Nakuru is Rift Valley, not Central Kenya.
On August 27, 2025, Kimani Ichung’wah said Kiambu is not part of the Mt Kenya region.
On June 14, 2026, Geoffrey Ruku openly pushed the Mt Kenya East–West divide.
Then, on August 11, 2026, Gachoki said Kirinyaga sits between East and West and should chart its own path.
Look at those dates. These things SUDDENLY became important after the political marriage between Ruto and H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH ENDED.
These are things we never used to fight over like this. We always spoke as one.
There’s a man who calls himself patriotic, seated somewhere, who is systematically dismantling the political foundation of our people. He is hell-bent on making sure Murima never remain ONE again.
Now leaders from Nakuru, Embu, Kiambu and Laikipia are busy arguing over which murima people belong where instead of asking the BIGGEST QUESTIONS. They come with flowery and clever language to explain these new divisions.
If we aren't careful, by the time this is over and the man they are hunting votes for is long gone, we may look back and ask ourselves: What did we allow them to do to us?
We will have divided our own people into smaller and smaller pieces. We will have lost the sense that we belong together. We will have lost parts of our culture, our shared history and the political strength that came from standing together.
And the people who caused all this division will have moved on. #Elections2027 #Muranga #Kiambu #Nakuru #kirinyaga

Ndindi Nyoro Set to Begin People's Tour in Murang'a After Political Realignment

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro is set to begin a People's Tour in Mukuyu, Murang'a, following his recent political move away from President William Ruto's UDA.

The tour is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. tomorrow, with Nyoro and his team seeking to engage residents on issues affecting the region and outline their political agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The political shift has generated mixed reactions across Mt Kenya. Supporters have welcomed the move, with some describing it as the start of a political "tsunami" in the region. Hundreds of residents have recently attended Nyoro's public engagements, where discussions have included education, infrastructure and economic development.

However, critics have questioned the timing and impact of the move, accusing Nyoro of creating political uncertainty and deepening divisions within the region.

At 40, the economist and Kiharu legislator has built a significant political profile, including through initiatives focused on education and student support.

The People's Tour is expected to provide Nyoro with an opportunity to strengthen his grassroots network, communicate his political priorities and gauge public sentiment as Kenya's political parties and leaders position themselves ahead of 2027.

KIHARU CURSE!
The Magic Spell from Kiharu Constituency is back in play.
The political playbook by the former President Moi is being used to propell another 2 term for Ruto.
In 1992 Kenneth Stanley Njindo Matiba gave Moi a Second term in office denying Mwai Kibaki the ultimate chance.
35 years down the lane the same spell has been spewed to Kiharu to make Ruto a TuTam.
Today's launch of his Presidential bid under PPK (Sauti Ya Wakenya) is just another rebranded Wheelbarrow.
MY VIEW.
Rigathi Gachagua's ruling will be overturned by the AG and he will be on the ballot and Ndindi Nyoro too. By so doing Mt Kenya votes will be split. Take note that even a 10% vote to Ndindi is a plus to Samoei Ruto And if this happens it will be a replica of 1992 and going by the current constitution it will be a run off where Ndindi will back Ruto for a Second term. #Elections2027

CORRIDORS OF POWER
POLITICAL GOSSIP
Who is doing what and where in the world of politics

Sometime last week, in the quiet, manicured environs of Kiambu Golf Club, retired President Uhuru Kenyatta sat down with three men who arrived carrying something heavier than golf bags. Senator Joe Nyutu, Senator Karungo Thangwa, and MP Edward Muriu, all card-carrying members of Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party, made the journey to Kiambu as men who have had enough, and who know exactly whose door to knock on when enough becomes enough.

Sources present on the periphery of that meeting tell us the conversation was candid, substantive, and long — the kind of meeting that does not happen unless something has already been decided in principle and the details are merely being confirmed.

What drove them there is not difficult to understand: the three have, for months, been quietly seething at what they describe privately as the suffocating, one-man-show character of DCP under Gachagua, a party where dissent is treated as betrayal, where vetting of members has become a tool of personal control, and where the distance between the party leader’s preferences and party policy is precisely zero.

Uhuru listened, we are told.

What happens next will be interesting, but we will say, for the benefit of those paying attention, that meetings of this nature at Kiambu Golf Club do not traditionally end without consequence. #Kiambu #Elections2027

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has ruled out seeking re-election on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, while keeping his next political move under wraps until December.

Wamatangi says his immediate focus is on delivering on his administration’s agenda, including completing roads and other pending projects, rather than joining the early 2027 campaign frenzy.

OBURU OGINGA defends ODM’s political pact with RUTO’s UDA – “He was the better devil”

ODM Party Leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga has defended the Orange Democratic Movement’s decision to work with President William Ruto.

Speaking during a broad‑based government meeting in Naivasha, Oburu said ODM leaders weighed the political options available and concluded that joining Ruto’s administration was the most viable path.

“We believed in stability. When there was a little shake, we said no, let us come in and join President Ruto,” he remarked, adding that Ruto was considered the “better devil” compared to other alternatives.

“Because looking at the options then, there was nobody better than Ruto.

"Even if we still thought he was a devil, he was a better devil than the other devils,” Oburu said.

The remarks underscore ODM’s dramatic shift from fierce opposition to partnership with the Kenya Kwanza government.

The High Court in Malindi has ruled that Kenya's next General Election ought to be held in August 2026, not 2027.

The court based its decision on the Constitution, which says elections should be held on the second Tuesday in August in every fifth year.

According to the ruling, "every fifth year" means the election should take place during the fifth year after the last General Election, not after five full years have passed.

Since the last General Election was held on 9 August 2022, the court says the fifth year falls in August 2026, making that the correct election period.

The court also found that holding the election in August 2027 would not comply with this interpretation of the Constitution.

However, the court suspended the effect of its decision because organizing a nationwide election in August 2026 is no longer practical.

This means the ruling does not immediately change the current election timeline.

The decision is expected to be appealed, so higher courts could still determine whether Kenya's next General Election will be held in 2026 or 2027. #Elections2027

Peter Munya Brands Gachagua a 'Bully', Deepening Opposition Rift

Cracks within the Opposition have continued to widen ahead of the 2027 General Election after Party of National Unity (PNU) leader Peter Munya launched a fresh attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of being a bully and warning against what he termed dictatorial leadership tendencies.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday night, Munya claimed Gachagua had developed a pattern of intimidating fellow leaders and using disrespectful language, saying such conduct was undermining efforts to build a united Opposition.

"Gachagua is a bully. You saw when he talked about the Governor of Murang’a, calling him 'kiherehere', and the governor was attacked by goons when he went to Ol Kalou. We think he needs to act more responsibly when dealing with leaders and all human beings. Use your language more courteously, and you'll go further than you have gone," Munya said.

The former Cabinet Secretary further urged Gachagua to exercise humility, saying respect was critical in building political alliances, particularly in the Mt Kenya region where different leaders commanded significant support. #Gachagua #Elections2027

Why Nairobi Senator and presidential aspirant EDWIN SIFUNA wants police allowed to vote during elections.

Nairobi Senator and presidential aspirant Edwin Sifuna has called for urgent measures to guarantee police and other security officers deployed during elections can exercise their constitutional right to vote.

Addressing the Senate on Wednesday, August 5, Sifuna sought a statement from the Standing Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights and Foreign Relations on the plight of officers who miss out on voting because they are stationed away from their registered polling stations.

He stressed that Article 38 of the Constitution guarantees every Kenyan citizen the right to vote by secret ballot, yet thousands of officers are effectively disenfranchised during polls.

Sifuna argued that advances in electoral technology and existing voting arrangements for Kenyans abroad prove that mechanisms can be developed to allow serving officers to cast ballots without disrupting security operations.

He asked the committee to outline legal, policy and administrative steps being pursued by the State Law Office in collaboration with the Independent Electoral and
Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

He also demanded assurances that any system would protect ballot secrecy and shield officers from intimidation or influence by their command structures.

The senator further pressed for clarity on logistical support, including transport
and time off duty, to ensure officers can vote while maintaining election security.

He insisted that no Kenyan should be denied participation in democracy because of national service responsibilities. #Elections2027

PNU, Muturi's DP Party Reject Gachagua's DCP Merger Proposal

The Party of National Unity (PNU), Democratic Party (DP) and Democratic Empowerment Party (DEP) have dismissed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's proposal to dissolve their parties and join the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), exposing what some say are fresh cracks in efforts to unite Mt Kenya under a single political outfit ahead of the 2027 General Election.

MPs Babu Owino, Edwin Sifuna, and spokesperson Caroli Omondi confronted Registrar John Cox Lorionokou after the state rejected their application to reserve the name "Linda Mwananchi Party of Kenya".

Following the tense meeting, the movement announced that the Registrar has agreed to officially reconsider the rejection.

The political faction, which consists of prominent leaders breaking away from ODM, is fighting to secure the name as they transition into a major third-force political party. #Elections2027

🚨 PRESIDENT RUTO HOSTS OVER 5,000 QUAKERS AT STATE HOUSE

President William Ruto today hosted more than 5,000 members of the Friends (Quakers) Church at State House, Nairobi, where he commended the church for its longstanding contribution to education, healthcare, peacebuilding, and national development.

During the gathering, President Ruto said there is no contradiction between the Bible and Kenya's Constitution, stating that both advocate for values that promote the well-being of citizens. He referenced biblical teachings while highlighting his government's agenda on affordable housing, universal healthcare, wealth creation, and economic transformation.

The President also said his administration has made significant progress over the past four years and called for continued collaboration between the government and faith-based organizations to build a peaceful, prosperous, and united Kenya founded on the rule of law and stable democracy.

The event has generated mixed reactions online, with some praising the partnership between government and religious institutions, while others questioned whether the focus should be on delivering faster economic relief to struggling families.

Do you think partnerships between the government and religious organizations can help drive Kenya's development?

🚨 SIFUNA ALLIES MOVE TO RESERVE "LINDA MWANANCHI" NAME AHEAD OF 2027

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna's allies have reportedly taken steps to reserve the name "Linda Mwananchi", a move widely seen as laying the foundation for a possible 2027 presidential bid.

Sources indicate the group has identified Linda Mwananchi as its preferred political vehicle and is expected to engage the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to formalize the process.

The development builds on Sifuna's growing "Sisi Ndio Sifuna" movement, signaling an effort to transform the campaign into a structured political platform as preparations for the 2027 General Election gather pace.

The move also comes amid increased political realignments, with opposition leaders exploring new alliances and positioning themselves to lead the challenge against President William Ruto in what is expected to be a fiercely contested election.

Could "Linda Mwananchi" become a major political force ahead of the 2027 General Election?

🚨 UDA MP JOHN KAGUCHIA UNDER FIRE OVER CONTROVERSIAL REMARKS

Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia is facing criticism after a video circulated online showing him making remarks directed at supporters of President William Ruto during a political gathering in Kieni.

The comments, which some critics described as threatening and inflammatory, have sparked widespread condemnation on social media. Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi termed the remarks unacceptable, while Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to investigate the speech for possible incitement.

The incident comes amid heightened political tensions as leaders intensify campaigns ahead of the 2027 General Election, raising fresh concerns about the tone of political discourse in the country.

If the remarks are found to violate the law, the relevant authorities will determine whether any action is warranted.

BARRACK MULUKA: There is a very good chance that Edwin Sifuna could become Kenya’s President from August next year. The pollsters speak of a meteoric rise and a steady surge in numbers. The youth, who constitute upwards of 75 per cent of the voting population, are enthralled by his charisma, wit and courage.

And back in his native home of Western Kenya, he has upset the legacy political kingpin class. In the opposition space, he is soaring above the traditional claimants.

The Nairobi senator’s star is rising. He is the man to watch for those yearning for freshness. Yet, it is not an easy road ahead. The hard part begins now, for this man who made a grand entry into Kitale and Bungoma last weekend. #Elections2027

Kenya Kwanza leaders urge Ruto to root out State House 'moles' after Gachagua leak claims

Kenya Kwanza leaders on Saturday raised concerns over an alleged leakage of information regarding President William Ruto’s Thursday State of the Nation address to his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking in Shinyalu, Kakamega County, the leaders called on President Ruto to rein in on alleged moles at State House noting that they pose a threat to national security.

The leaders, led by Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka and Kakamegaa Deputy Governor Ayub Savula as well as a host of Members of Parliament, at same time hailed President Ruto’s address saying it's a pointer to good governance. #Elections2027

GACHAGUA outlines strict conditions for aspirants keen to join his DCP party ahead of 2027 elections – “We don’t want traitors”

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has outlined strict conditions for entry into the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), naming three categories of leaders who will be barred.

Speaking in an interview with political strategist Herman Manyora on Friday, July 31, Gachagua said MPs who voted for the 2024 Finance Bill, those who supported his impeachment, and leaders accused of unleashing goons on Mount Kenya residents would not be accepted unless the people advised otherwise.

“We don’t want traitors, anybody who removed me from office, passed the 2024 Finance Bill and organised goons to attack our people in churches, we don’t want,” he stated.

While stressing that he would like to welcome leaders from the Mountain back despite their ties to President William Ruto, Gachagua insisted the decision rests with the people.

He acknowledged that some leaders may have been misled by Ruto, whom he described as “a very deceptive character,” and urged forgiveness, though he admitted many in the community remain unwilling.

The DCP leader further alleged that a Laikipia MP allied to government was roughed up by his supporters outside Wamunyoro while attempting to meet him.

Gachagua also opined that President Ruto would likely drop Deputy President Kithure Kindiki ahead of the 2027 General Election, arguing Kindiki lacks the numbers to serve as running mate.

He dismissed speculation of working with Ruto again, saying such a move would amount to “political suicide.” #Elections2027 #Gachagua

There is nothing wrong with a country having a long term plan, but politicians often use slogans such as Vision 2030, Vision 2050 and Vision 2060 to push accountability far beyond the next election.

A leader who cannot fix broken hospitals, rising food prices, unemployment, corruption, failing schools and heavy taxation will suddenly begin describing the beautiful country citizens should expect several decades later.

By the time that distant deadline arrives, the politician is gone, the promises have been renamed, the failures have been forgotten and another government has launched a fresh document carrying another future date.

Nigeria once promised that Vision 20:2020 would place the country among the world’s twenty largest economies, yet the deadline passed with unemployment, weak public services and economic hardship still shaping daily life.

Kenya launched Vision 2030 in 2008 with promises of industrial growth, higher incomes and better living standards, yet the country is approaching that deadline with many families poorer, businesses closing and public debt rising. #Elections2027

🚨 MURKOMEN CONFIDENT RUTO WILL WIN A SECOND TERM IN 2027

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen says President William Ruto is on course to win re-election in the August 2027 General Election, insisting that all the political indicators he has reviewed point to another victory for the President.

Speaking in Embu on 31st July, Murkomen defended President Ruto's long-term development agenda, saying the Head of State is already planning beyond Vision 2030, while accusing opposition leaders of lacking a clear national vision and offering only criticism.

His remarks come amid mixed public opinion. Recent TIFA polling placed Ruto at 24% support, ahead of several potential challengers, including Edwin Sifuna and Kalonzo Musyoka. However, some online opinion polls and political discussions suggest opposition candidates could perform strongly in certain head-to-head contests.

With just over a year until the 2027 General Election, Kenya's political landscape continues to evolve as both the ruling coalition and the opposition intensify their campaigns.

Do you believe President Ruto is on course for re-election in 2027, or do you think Kenyans are ready for new leadership?

🚨 CONTROVERSY ROCKS HOMA BAY COUNTY

A developing controversy in Homa Bay County has sparked public outrage following allegations involving the County Woman Representative and popular local musician Atomy Sifa.

According to the allegations, the Woman Representative recently came under criticism after reportedly using County Affirmative Action Funds to build a house for her brother. The claims attracted widespread condemnation from residents, including Atomy Sifa, who publicly criticized what he described as corruption and poor leadership.

It is alleged that after the criticism, the Woman Representative became angry and warned that she would "deal with" the musician.

According to the claims, matters escalated when one of her employees allegedly took one of her cows and tied it inside the musician's compound while he was away performing at a local club. The Woman Representative then reportedly called police, claiming the musician had stolen her cow.

When Atomy Sifa returned home and found the cow tied in his compound, it is alleged that he chose to leave it there, believing the owner would simply come and collect it. Instead, officers from Kendu Bay Police Station reportedly arrived, found the cow still tied where it had been left, arrested the musician, and detained him.

The arrest reportedly triggered public anger, with residents demanding an explanation and accusing the Woman Representative of abusing the criminal justice system to settle personal scores.

According to the allegations, when the case came up in court the following day, the Woman Representative personally appeared and withdrew the case, reportedly stating that the "missing" cow had been found.

If these allegations are true, they raise serious questions about the misuse of public office, abuse of police processes, and the need for accountability.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed these allegations or responded to the claims.

What do you think? Should there be an independent investigation into this matter?

OPINION: President William Ruto's political standing appears to be facing one of its biggest tests since taking office.

Critics argue that his latest speech lacked major policy announcements and failed to shift attention from recent opposition political engagements. They also point to growing reports of leaders leaving UDA and increasing challenges in mobilizing public support without significant financial expenditure.

Just a few years ago, Ruto was viewed as one of Africa's most influential political figures, actively engaging on the international stage and speaking confidently about Kenya's long-term future. Today, however, some analysts believe the political landscape has shifted dramatically, with the opposition becoming more coordinated ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Whether this marks a temporary setback or the beginning of a broader political decline remains to be seen. Kenyan politics has often proven unpredictable, and the next election is still some time away.

Do you think President Ruto can rebuild his political momentum before 2027, or has the tide already turned?

🚨 ODM MP Millie Odhiambo Warns Against UDA's Financial Influence Ahead of 2027**

Suba North MP **Millie Odhiambo** has urged ODM members to remain vigilant, warning that the party should not allow financial influence to weaken its independence as Kenya heads toward the **2027 General Election**.

Speaking during a radio interview, Odhiambo said ODM leaders should have honest internal discussions to ensure the party remains united despite what she described as the attraction of UDA's financial resources.

Her remarks come amid ongoing debate over ODM's relationship with the Kenya Kwanza administration following the appointment of several ODM leaders to Cabinet positions.

Meanwhile, Kisumu Senator **Prof. Tom Ojienda** alleged that money was used to mobilize supporters for a recent ODM rally, claiming **MCAs received more than KSh 100,000 each**, while **Members of Parliament were allegedly given KSh 500,000 or more** to facilitate attendance. ODM leaders have denied the allegations, although some local leaders acknowledged that logistical funds were distributed after the event.

As the country prepares for the 2027 elections, questions surrounding political financing, party loyalty, and transparency continue to dominate Kenya's political discourse.

Gachagua Alleges Plot to Arrest Auditor General Nancy Gathungu Over Audit Reports

Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that there are plans within the government to arrest Auditor General Nancy Gathungu over her audit reports exposing alleged misuse of public funds.

Speaking on Friday, July 31, during a meeting with Maasai leaders and supporters at his Wamunyoro residence, Gachagua alleged that he had received information from sources within the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) indicating that investigators had been instructed to find evidence that could be used to prosecute the Auditor General.

"As we speak, sources today at the DCI have reached out to me and told me that Kasongo (the President) has said that the Auditor General Nancy Gathungu should be fished for evidence against her because she is bringing to light all that theft within the government," Gachagua claimed.

He further alleged that senior government officials had directed the DCI to build a case against Gathungu because of her reports highlighting alleged financial irregularities.

"I have information that you have directed the DCI Director to look for grounds to have this woman arrested," he added.

Neither the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Office of the Auditor General, nor State House had publicly responded to Gachagua's allegations at the time of publication. The claims remain unverified. #Elections2027 #Wamunyoro

Moses Kuria Likens Kenya's Political Landscape to the Sinking Titanic

Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has stirred political debate after using the sinking Titanic as a metaphor to describe Kenya's evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a post shared on July 31, Kuria compared politicians leaving the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to "rats fleeing a sinking ship," while portraying loyalists as the Titanic's band, continuing to play despite the unfolding crisis. He also likened rival political figures to aristocratic passengers arguing over status as the ship sank, suggesting that political infighting continues even as larger challenges loom.

The post has been widely interpreted as a veiled reference to growing tensions within the ruling coalition, particularly as several Mt. Kenya leaders align themselves with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP). It also comes against the backdrop of rising public dissatisfaction over the economy and the growing popularity of opposition slogans such as "Wantam."

While the post has sparked mixed reactions—drawing praise from some and criticism from others—Kuria has not provided any further explanation of his remarks. #Elections2027

Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku Suggests Joining ODM to Protect Kindiki's Deputy Presidency

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has suggested that he and other leaders would be willing to join the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) if doing so would help safeguard Deputy President Kithure Kindiki's position.

Speaking on July 30 in Ontulili, Buuri Constituency, Ruku urged ODM leaders to stop portraying the deputy presidency as a vacant position. He specifically cautioned leaders, including Wycliffe Oparanya, against statements that could undermine Kindiki, insisting that the office rightfully belongs to him.

Ruku also reaffirmed that the Mt. Kenya region remains firmly behind the President William Ruto–Kithure Kindiki ticket ahead of the 2027 General Election. REVEALED: President William Ruto has reportedly been sending emissaries to retired President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta in an effort to mend their relationship following the Ol Kalou by-election.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the outreach is being driven by growing concern within the President's camp over the rising political influence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua across the Mt. Kenya region. The sources claim that State House fears the shifting political landscape could significantly impact President Ruto's support base in the region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The same sources further allege that former President Uhuru Kenyatta has shown little interest in the reconciliation efforts. They claim he remains dissatisfied with the current administration and continues to stand by the position he took before the 2022 General Election, when he publicly urged Kenyans not to support William Ruto's presidential bid.

According to the sources, Uhuru also remains aggrieved by what he perceives as the treatment directed at him and members of his family after he left office, despite his status as a former Head of State. The sources say these grievances have made any reconciliation efforts increasingly difficult. #Elections2027 #Nairobi

Former Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung'u describes President Ruto as a micromanager who makes government officials act out of fear.

Ndung'u, who once led Kenya's Central Bank and served as the first Treasury CS under President William Ruto, spoke on July 30, 2026, about institutions being undermined by concentrated authority, linking the issue to rural economic woes and governance challenges. He said he rejected improper deals during his tenure and recalled a 2005 World Bank report that described public office as a "lootable resource" shaped for cronies.

Now a University of Nairobi professor, his candid video remarks have fueled ongoing debates in Kenya about accountability, governance, and the balance of power.#Elections2027

Question: Were senators paid to impeach Rigathi Gachagua?

Sen Maanzo: Yes, they were. You even heard Junet Mohammed confirm this.

Question: You're a senator, were you paid?

Maanzo: I was approached and offered Ksh. 10M, but I was given conditions: “If you take this money, you must vote yes. If you take it and run away, you won’t get to your house. If you take it and vote ‘no,’ you still won’t get to your house.” Therefore, I said I was going to vote no. #Elections2027

Sifuna Challenges Ruto on SHA Success Metrics
In a Citizen TV interview, Sifuna criticized President Ruto's focus on SHA registrations, saying the program replacing NHIF should be judged by actual service access amid complaints of payment delays and high fees.

Ruto has celebrated 26-27 million sign-ups and KSh12 billion monthly payouts to facilities, up from NHIF levels, while insuring 107,000 community health promoters.

Sifuna pointed to ongoing issues like county hospitals owed billions and families fundraising for bills, fueling divided reactions online between those praising accountability and others defending enrollment growth. #Elections2027

President William Ruto is using his money, shadow advisers and political networks to push Edwin Sifuna into insisting on becoming the opposition's presidential flag bearer.

The aim is to convince Sifuna that it's his time and that he should never deputize Kalonzo Musyoka under any circumstances.

When you see these kinds of divisions being encouraged, ask yourself who benefits.

Every effort that weakens opposition unity only strengthens Ruto's political position. #Elections2027

Kenyans shouldn't begrudge Sen Sifuna for his meteoric political rise. We should instead celebrate it. It's always a good thing when a young man gets a break in politics or any career for that matter and thrust himself into the national limelight. Remember, Sifuna hasn't elbowed anyone. He simply claimed a space that was empty since Hon. Kijana Wamalwa died two decades ago. For too long, Western was bereft of a political heavyweight that sat at the national table as of right. Sifuna seems to be the new kid on the block. And to be fair to the young man, his appeal goes beyond Luhya land. #Elections2027

Something is changing in Kenyan politics, and many haven't priced it in.

Edwin Sifuna lost the Nairobi Senate race in 2017.

He didn't disappear into government. He didn't negotiate a soft landing. He rebuilt.

In 2018, he became ODM Secretary General. In 2022, he returned and won Nairobi's Senate seat.

Then came the broad-based government.

While many opposition figures crossed over, Sifuna stayed put. He lost positions, but kept his political identity. In an era where almost everyone seems to have a price, he refused to put himself on the shelf.

Now comes something even more interesting.

His Linda Mwananchi campaign is being funded by ordinary Kenyans. Thousands of small M-Pesa contributions have replaced a handful of wealthy financiers.

A politician funded by the public is harder for the powerful to purchase.

Then look at what happened elsewhere.

On July 16, Ol Kalou delivered one of the clearest political messages in recent years. DCP defeated UDA by 35,440 votes to 5,450 — almost a 6:1 margin.

Different leaders. Different regions.

But the same question.

Are Kenyans beginning to value authenticity over political convenience?

Whether Sifuna eventually wins the presidency is a different debate.

But if ordinary citizens can finance serious campaigns, and if incumbents can suffer margins like Ol Kalou, then Kenyan politics may be entering a new phase.

For years, politics asked:

Who has the deepest pockets?

The next election may ask something completely different:

Who truly has the people?

What do you think? #Elections2027

A summary of the Saturday's Linda mwananchi tour in Transnzoia.

On the highly awaited day in the Kenyan political space, the Linda Mwananchi movement, led primarily by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, conducted a high-visibility grassroots tour through Trans Nzoia County. The journey set off from the Soy/Matunda area along the Eldoret-Kitale highway through Moi's Bridge towards Kitale town. The Convoy drew large, energetic crowds as part of its Western Kenya mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections.

The itinerary featured stopovers and public addresses. The crew had an unplanned or early engagement at Soy. In Soy, the team mobilized and addressed market crowds, followed by planned stops at Moi’s Bridge( around 10 a.m.), Sibanga (around 11:30 a.m.), and a mega rally at Kitale’s Mwangaza Grounds (from about 2:30 p.m.).

Leaders including Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and others (with some arriving by chopper) were welcomed by Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale.

Crowds lined streets, climbed rooftops and buildings for views, chanted for Sifuna, and created a “sea of humanity” and a near-shutdown atmosphere in places like Moi’s Bridge and Kitale; local bands entertained waiting supporters, and bodaboda riders had organized escorts. The tour was framed around unity, justice, governance, cost of living, accountability, and citizen engagement under slogans emphasizing dialogue and organization.

The Linda mwananchi faction team forms part of a broader Western/Mulembe-region push for better inclusion in Kenyan politics.

Linda Mwananchi originated as an ODM faction critical of the party’s engagement with the broad-based government/Ruto administration.
Since then, it has intensified grassroots work, raised citizen-funded donations, announced intentions to break fully from ODM and register as its own party, and positioned itself for 2027 with Sifuna as a prominent face.

How will the Linda mwananchi team shape the Kenyan political space? #Elections2027

Furious Mbadi: Luos, if there is an election that we should cast as many ballots as possible without sleeping, is that of 2027, in order to elect Ruto with overwhelming number of votes that we never even cast for Raila.

2027 election will be for us to express our anger and punish the Kikuyus; therefore, we should cast our votes with rage. They want to disrespect us when they say their population is higher than that of us Luos.

You hear Gachagua saying that what caused a rift between him and Ruto is that he found Raila at State House. That it is an abomination when a Luo enters State House. How do we Luos look like, that when Gachagua saw Raila, he saw Satan?

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a chilling warning that allies of President William Ruto are planning to “eliminate” Deputy President Kithure Kindiki following the crushing UDA defeat in the Ol Kalou by-election.
Speaking in recent remarks, Gachagua claimed the humiliating loss in what was supposed to be a stronghold has triggered intense backlash against Kindiki within the ruling camp.“Ruto’s people are now disrespecting him and plotting against him,” Gachagua said, adding that Kindiki — whom he referred to as “our son” from Mt Kenya — should prepare for betrayal. Gachagua went further, telling Kindiki:
“Ukipata shida mbele… come back home.” (If you get into trouble ahead… come back home.)He drew parallels to his own experience, alleging that after falling out with Ruto, he survived poisoning attempts in Kisumu and other plots before his impeachment.
Political observers say the statement reflects growing panic and infighting in Kenya Kwanza after DCP’s landslide victory in Ol Kalou, which many viewed as a direct referendum on Ruto’s popularity in Mt Kenya #Elections2027
