The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has released a blow-by-blow account of the events leading to the death of Dennis Aremo Osiemo, who was found dead inside a police cell at Narumoru Police Station in Nyeri County on Sunday, September 20.

According to the DCI, Osiemo was wanted over an assault case reported at Narumoru Police Station on July 2, 2026. Detectives traced him to Kisii County, where he was arrested on September 18 before being initially booked at Keroka Police Station.

The DCI says he was later transferred to Narumoru Police Station on September 19, where his statement was recorded and he was returned to the cells. Officers reportedly observed him to be in normal condition, and he was scheduled to appear in court on September 21.

However, on September 20, Osiemo was found dead inside the cell. The DCI says the scene was processed in the presence of IPOA officers, senior police officers and a relative, with IPOA now leading investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The account has also sought to explain why Osiemo was being held in Nyeri despite being arrested in Kisii, stating that the case originated at Narumoru Police Station and detectives from Kieni East were handling the investigation. #Nyeri #Kisii

NCIC Summons Gachagua Over Alleged Inciting Remarks

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has summoned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to respond to remarks he allegedly made during several public engagements.

The commission is examining comments reportedly made in Luanda, Vihiga County, on June 12, in Kisii County on February 23, and at another public gathering in late July. NCIC is investigating whether the statements could constitute ethnic incitement, hate speech, or actions likely to undermine national cohesion.

The summons, issued under the National Cohesion and Integration Act, requires Gachagua to appear at the commission's offices at Britam Towers in Nairobi at 2:00 p.m. Failure to comply could result in an arrest warrant.

The move comes amid similar investigations involving other political leaders, including Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma, as NCIC continues its efforts to address remarks that could threaten peaceful coexistence and national unity. #Gachagua #Vihiga #Kisii #muranga
