Affordable Housing Workers Protest Unpaid Wages in Kapsabet

Transport was temporarily disrupted along a major highway in Kapsabet Town, Nandi County, on Monday, August 24, after workers involved in an affordable housing project took to the streets to protest three weeks of unpaid wages.

The workers, some carrying placards and twigs, demanded that their outstanding salaries be paid. They reportedly blocked parts of the road with tyres and tree branches, bringing traffic to a standstill in sections of the town.

The demonstrations affected motorists travelling between Eldoret and Kapsabet towards Kisumu, as well as those heading from Nandi County towards Vihiga and Kakamega. Travellers using the Kericho–Kapsabet route also experienced disruptions.

The protest has renewed concerns over delayed payments to workers involved in government-backed construction projects, with the affected employees calling for urgent intervention to settle their wages. #Kapsabet #Nandi
