🚨 Heavy fighting between Oromo and Somali forces resumes in Moyale Town, forcing civilians to flee into Kenya as border crossings close
On October 22nd, heavy fighting resumed in Moyale Town along the Oromia–Somali regional boundary following a brief lull the previous day. The fighting, reportedly triggered by competing territorial claims between the two regions, began in Kebele Two before spreading throughout the town, with sustained gunfire bringing normal activities to a complete standstill.
Although Federal Police and Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) personnel were deployed to Moyale, they have been unable to halt the fighting. Major roads connecting Ethiopia and Kenya have been closed, disrupting cross-border transportation and movement.
As the fighting intensified, numerous Ethiopian civilians fled their homes and crossed into neighboring Kenya through the Moyale border area. Local sources confirmed that many families had already entered Kenya on the morning of October 22nd, while additional residents continued fleeing the town. #Ethiopia
