Ibrahim Traoré has abolished all colonial-style prisons in Burkina Faso 🇧🇫, replacing the old punishment-focused system with farms, skills training and rehabilitation.
Prisoners can work on state farms, learn practical skills and earn sentence reductions while contributing to the economy.
So far, 963 prisoners have reportedly received sentence reductions, including 372 who were released after life sentences were commuted.
