Apple’s hardware chief Tom Marieb has a strong reaction to screen protectors, saying Apple puts huge effort into making iPhone displays beautiful and durable.
His comment came while discussing Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple introduced with the iPhone 17 lineup.
Apple says its redesigned coating provides 3x better scratch resistance than the previous generation while also reducing reflections, with engineers balancing scratch protection against long-term surface wear.
Marieb said Apple tests its displays based on how people actually use their phones, even compressing the equivalent of 5 years or more of use into weeks of testing.
Still, whether that is enough to ditch a screen protector comes down to how much protection an owner wants. #Technology
