A tourist helicopter crashed at Kirish, in the Sapashe mountain area near Mt Ololokwe (Ol Donyo Sabache), Samburu County, on Wednesday morning.
🌻Preliminary police reports are inconsistent on numbers — one account says 6 tourists + 1 pilot (7 total), another says 7 tourists aboard.
🌻Witnesses reported smoke and fire at the crash site, which is in a deep, hard-to-access section of the mountain.
🌻The aircraft was reportedly based at Loisaba and had picked up clients from Suiyan before the crash.
🌻Nationalities of those on board are not yet known.
🌻KCAA has confirmed the crash and says it’s under investigation, but has not yet confirmed fatalities.
🌻Rescue teams and locals are working to reach the site; access is described as difficult due to terrain
This is the wreckage of the ill-fated Eurocopter EC130 B4 helicopter (registration 5Y-GYM) that was found completely gutted by fire at the base of Mount Ololokwe in Kirish, Samburu County, following the tragic crash this morning.
