🚨 Fresh Setback for Dangote’s KSh 2 Trillion Lamu Refinery

Aliko Dangote is facing a legal challenge in Kenya over plans for a proposed KSh 2 trillion oil refinery in Lamu County.

More than 130 residents of Chandavai, Lamu County, have moved to court seeking to stop the planned development, arguing that the project threatens land their families have occupied and cultivated for generations.

The residents claim they face displacement without a clear resettlement plan or compensation, and are challenging what they describe as an unlawful takeover and destruction of their ancestral land.

The development comes as preparations continue for the planned September 30 groundbreaking ceremony.

The court case could therefore become a significant issue for the project, particularly over land ownership, compensation, resettlement and community rights.

What do you think? Can a major investment proceed if the local community says its land rights have not been addressed? #Dangote #Lamu
