President William Ruto is set to lead a groundbreaking ceremony next week for the $15 billion East Africa Refinery in Lamu County, backed by Dangote Industries CEO Aliko Dangote, according to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
The announcement follows a meeting between Ruto and Dangote on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, with Kindiki saying the project is expected to create about 50,000 jobs and reduce foreign exchange pressure from oil imports.
