Kindiki Vows to Defend Deputy President’s Office Against Removal

Kenya’s Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has vowed to defend his office against any attempt to remove him, as political tensions continue to build ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking on August 21, 2026, while addressing United Democratic Alliance (UDA) polling officials, Kindiki declared that it would be impossible to remove him from office. He drew comparisons with President William Ruto’s experience as deputy president, highlighting his determination to withstand political challenges.

His remarks come against the backdrop of the removal of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and growing political divisions ahead of the 2027 polls.

Meanwhile, former Cabinet Secretary and MP Moses Kuria has expressed concern for Gachagua’s safety despite their political differences. Kuria raised fears that Gachagua could face a violent attack, making a reference to Lee Harvey Oswald.

The remarks have triggered strong reactions online, with Kenyans debating the state of political stability and the increasingly heated political environment ahead of the next election. #kindiki #TharakaNithi
