The United States has announced a new sanctions package for Iran: the second round of sanctions against the Islamic republic of Iran.
U.S. treasury secretary Scott Bessent has announced that the United States is considering to effectively ban all Iranian airlines globally .
Bessent stated that the decision to shutdown all Iranian airlines worldwide which will take effect Wednesday, September 23, 2026 is part of the United States effort to cut off Iran's access to foreign currency, technology, and international aviation services.
Bessent Warned that the United States will cut off from the US dollar financial system any international airport, fuel provider, ticketing agent, or ground service that helps any Iranian carrier.
