government has begun the design and feasibility study for the proposed 60-kilometre Nairobi-Thika Expressway, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced.
The proposed expressway is expected to be built above the existing Thika Superhighway, starting from Thika Town and ending at Museum Hill in Nairobi, where it would connect to the Nairobi Expressway.
The elevated road is being planned as an additional route for motorists, with the government saying it could help ease congestion along the busy Thika Road corridor. The feasibility study will assess the project's engineering requirements, traffic capacity, construction cost, environmental and social impacts and land requirements.
