New York City has been named the wealthiest city in the world for the fourth year in a row.
According to Henley & Partners' 2025 World's Wealthiest Cities Report, New York is home to around:
384,500 millionaires
818 centi-millionaires
66 billionaires
About $3 trillion in private wealth
That's roughly one millionaire for every 22 residents.
New York ranks ahead of the San Francisco Bay Area, Tokyo, Singapore, and London.
Its millionaire population has also grown by 45% in just 10 years.
But there's another side to those numbers.
The same city has a median rent of around $5,000 a month, a major shortage of affordable housing, and roughly 1 in 4 to 7 residents living in poverty.
So New York holds two very different records at the same time.
It's the wealthiest city in the world — and one of the hardest places for ordinary people to afford.
